What is Kali Sikaran?

Kali Sikaran is a modern system of Filipino martial arts that blends empty-hand skills, weapon training and practical self-defence into one clear framework. It comes from the traditional fighting arts of the Philippines and South-East Asia, adapted for everyday people who want real self-defence skills, awareness, timing and the confidence to remain calm under pressure.

The style is built around six core components, covering both weapons and empty-hand work: 

  • Double stick – coordination, timing and power using two sticks

  • Single stick – focus, distance control and strong basics with one impact weapon

  • Knife defence – awareness and strategies for dealing with edged weapons

  • Close-quarter hand work (Kadena de Mano) – short-range strikes, traps and flow

  • Filipino boxing (Panantukan) – practical striking for self-defence (and a great way to stay fit!)

  • Filipino kickboxing (Sikaran) – balanced footwork, kicking and movement

Kali Sikaran has a well-structured program (phases) to ensure that our system is taught progressively and safely, starting with foundations. As you grow, the pieces connect into a flowing, adaptable system you can use under pressure — whether you’re training empty-hand or with weapons.
